I love weekends.

I was spoiled last weekend having a four day weekend, so it felt like this weekend just flew by a little too quick!  Tony started out my day with a delicious omelet with a high fiber English muffin.  Tony makes the best eggs – thanks honey!  (The green is fresh basil – wonderful touch!)

So Twinfest was great.  It’s hard to believe we have known our friends since 3rd grade!  I am sure I have mentioned it before, but prior to 3rd grade, my sister and I had never known any twins.  But I have to give props to our parents, we don’t have matching names and we never were dressed alike.  Well, outside our immediate family felt it necessary to give us the same gifts, but not our parents!  So every Christmas we were like “find the other gift that looks like this one” so that we would have to open them at the same time.  When we met our friends, they dressed alike down to the socks they wore – they were shocked that we weren’t dressed alike – they had no idea they could dress differently!

But my sister and I could not be more different, while still being the same.  I was always the athlete: field hockey, indoor track, outdoor track, softball.  My sister was a Pom Pom girl.  My sisters boyfriend would pick us up on the way to school.  My sister had been up probably an hour and a half before, changing outfits, curling her hair, etc.  As soon as I heard the beep of her boyfriends car is when I would get up.  Sometimes I would go to school in the sweats I slept in, just wash my face, put in my contacts, throw my hair back in a pony tail and I was good to go.

It used to make my sister so mad when people would think that she was Biz, or that people would think I was her!  And to this day, I am still the low maintenance one!

Once I arrived, I was presented with a beer :D  Not a huge fan of Corona, but the lime makes it!

We had chips and my salsa and a veggie tray – I was too busy talking to make many pictures!  Lunch was thin crust pizza:

One of the twins and I worked together for a couple years.  A co-worker remembered how much I love snowmen and gave my friend two big bags of snowmen things!  This was one of my favorites – its a votive candle:

For dinner I had to cook up some chicken breasts.  I used my dry rub that I had leftover from our last attempt at Chicago Style ribs.

Then it was time to build my sammie – two slices of seven grain bread that I toasted on the grill with 1 ounce of quesadilla cheese (it melts so good!).  Then I topped my chicken with 1 slice of crisp bacon and 1/4 of an avocado.

Holy yum.  The crunch of the seven grain bread, mixed with spicy yet tender chicken, saltiness of the bacon and creaminess of the avocado.  BEST.SANDWICH.EVER!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  See you tomorrow night! 😀

  3. I’m glad Twinfest ’09 went so well! How funny that must have been when those twins met you and Jenn – did they continue to dress alike after they saw your example of individuality?

What is quesadilla cheese – I’ve never heard of it! Your sammie looks divine!

    • Once they met us, they asked if ourMom could tlk to their Mom and from then on they could wear different outfits!

Quesadilla cheese is sold at my ethnic grocery store in their cheese section – it melts really well!
