BSI – Cinnamon – Snickerpoodles!

What a busy day yesterday!  I love sleeping in on the weekends, and yesterday was no exception – I didn’t get out of bed until 9:30!  I made a quick breakfast sammie: 1/4 cup egg whites, 1/4 egg beaters, 1 ounce ham, 2 oz. bagel and .8 ounce Swiss cheese:

Hannah took the day off of work because she was going to be babysitting for a co-worker for our office Christmas party last night.  Hannah usually works most Saturday’s during the day, so it was nice to hang out with her!  We went to the mall for some Christmas shopping.  Oh my, there were snowmen everywhere!  But I didn’t buy a single one! 😀

I called Tony to see if he wanted me to pick up something for lunch, but he had already eaten, so Hannah and I hit up the Food Court!  We each got a kids meal of chicken nuggets and fries.

There is just something about a mall that fascinates both me and Hannah.  We could people watch for hours!  So many diverse people of all walks of life.

When we got home I had time to put together my BSI entry this weekSnickerpoodles!  If you want a recipe for the best snickerdoodle cookie – check this recipe out.  My mom made them and said they were the best homemade snickerdoodle she’s had, and I sent a batch to my Aunt who loved them too! 😀

Biz’s Snickerpoodles for Dogs

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup karo syrup
  • 1/2 cup egg beaters
  • 3 3/4 cups white flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons of CINNAMON

Mix together the oil, shortening and karo syrup.  Mix together dry ingredients.  Mix until well blended.  Refrigerate for 30 minutes (the dough will be pretty soft) so you can roll the dough out.  I decided to use my snowman cookie cutter! D:  Bake for 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees.

Ed loved them!!  I tried to get a picture of him taking a bite, but he was way too fast for me!  I only made 6 snowmen, but decided to make what looked like peanut butter cookies for the rest of them.  We were going over to the home of our firms founder, and they have just about anything you could want, so as a thank you I put together on a snowman plate for their dogs 😀

Um, to say the house we went to is huge is an understatement.  Let’s just say you can fit 60+ people for dinner in their basement!  We have learned our lesson and chose a table far from the fire place – we sat next to it one year and were pretty toasty!  It was really dark, so none of my food pics turned out.  We had a garden salad with beets (still not a fan!) and then prime rib with a potato side dish that was full of onions, so all in all I didn’t do too bad.

I had a couple glasses of Pinot Gris – it was good!

We sat with my friend Renee (my work walking buddy!) and her husband Mark.  Renee, Mark and I have the same palates – they like spicy foods.  I bring them food that Tony would never touched – Mark loves my pulled pork and I plan on making pulled chicken today for him to try! 😀

So what are the chances that two women not only wore the same dress, but they even had the same exact shoes!

They both looked beautiful in it!   We were home by 11:30 and Hannah made it home from her babysitting gig around midnight.  It was pretty much straight to bed for me!

Plans for today:

  • laundry
  • menu plan
  • grocery shop
  • exercise since I didn’t yesterday
  • watch Four Christmas with Hannah when she gets home from work. 😀

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!

  1. Your breakfast looks sooo good! That’s a kick I’m on lately — a high protein breakfast. Helps to keep my hungry belly satisfied throughout the morning! Your family is beautiful, and as I always say…so jealous of your photog skills!!!

  2. I love that you do different things for breakfast each day! It always gives me new ideas! I even tried apples with cheese, new for me, so YUMMY!!! Thanks for all the great inspiration! Those snowmen would be hard to leave behind, especially the first one! So cute!!

  3. I love sundays! Glad you’re having a good one so far!

  4. I love people watching at the mall too! So much fun!

  5. You didn’t buy a single snowman?? I have been thinking about buying some actually 🙂

Hope you enjoy your Sunday too. I have to go out and do a bunch of errands… But it’ll be a nice walk.

  6. You should win this week’s BSI based on the name of your recipe alone! Too cute! I have to say that the snowmen looked more like gingerbread men to me, but I’m sure the dogs don’t care, lol!

OK, the twin dresses are gorgeous (as are the ladies wearing them) – but I would have been slightly ticked to have someone else wearing the exact same dress at a party. Glad you were able to control yourself due to ingredients you don’t like (I still don’t like beets either) – hey, whatever works, right?!?

  7. Lynn at The Actors Diet

fireplaces always look so inviting, but yes – they do get too hot!

  8. McKinley would love those cookies – gotta make him some!

  9. The cookies look FANTASTIC nice work! Some wonderful BSI entries this time around. Going to be a hard picK!! Let me know how the movie is- I really want to see it

  10. Good job on BSI! I have 2 recipes for dog biscuits but I’ve never made them. You just might inspire me this year, since my parents are bringing their dog when they’re visiting, so I’ll have a doggie house guest Christmas morning. hehe Their stockings can have homemade treats!

Wow, what a coincedence w/ the same dresses AND shoes – never heard of that before! I hope they both went and got lotto tickets! 😉

  11. haha, Snickerpoodles for dogs?! That’s great! I dunno though, I think I’d rather just eat them myself…
Glad you had a good night last night! And, I love the snow falling down on your blog, so festive!
