What Makes Tony Cry

I wanted to cut and paste Tony’s comment yesterday in case you didn’t see it:

Mr. Biz (Tony) says:

I cry during important things. I cry when Rudy sacks the QB, and when Jimmy Stewart comes home and his family knows him. I cried when the stupid packers won the stupid Superbowl (dammit). I cried when my son was born (and not just because his testicles were bigger than mine), and I cried when he ran away to Texas. I cried when my beloved White Sox won the World Series!!

I do not cry when some idiot drops weight, or when some singer dazzles the judges. I don’t cry when my PMS is raging.

Mostly, I will not cry about cancer of the ass. That lets the cancer think it is winning.

I loved it!Β  Oh, and he also cries at Brian’s Song – the story about the football player Brian Piccalo?Β  Actually, I cry watching that movie too! πŸ˜€

I felt like oats for breakfast yesterday – these kept me full for hours – 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 banana, 1 oz. raisins and 1/2 oz. of sun flower seeds for a bit of crunch, and 1/8 cup sugar free pancake syrup drizzled over the top.Β  7 Points.

after Smucker's, this is my second favorite sugar free syrup

I ended up not working out yesterday – one of the secretaries was out sick and I had to cover for her three attorneys and I had to cover the front desk.Β  My lunch was simple and delicious though!Β  2 corn tortillas, 2 tablespoons refried beans, 2 oz. chicken, 1/2 green pepper, 1 oz. cheese and taco sauce.Β  I fried them in 1 tsp. of oil so they were nice and crunchy.

8 Points

I had defrosted 1/2 a pork roast that was in the freezer – its from Sam’s club and it has chopped bacon on top – it always turns out so juicy.Β  I, of course, had to spice it up with some buffalo wing sauce πŸ˜€Β  It wasn’t until I downloaded my pictures this morning that I realized what was missing from my dinner plate.Β  Vegetables!Β  Guess where they were?Β  In my microwave this morning!Β  Dinner, without veggies, comes in at 9 points.

Since Tony is going to be in the hospital on Valentine’s Day, we are going to celebrate it on Saturday night.Β  On the menu?

Filet Mignon with Mushroom Sauce: (picture source)

And for dessert:Β  Wedding Cake! (picture source)

A while back I won Veronica of Recipe Rhapsody‘s giveaway for something called creme bouquet that is the secret ingredient in wedding cake frosting.Β  Seriously, if you open the bottle of this stuff, it smells like wedding cake!Β  Although my cake is going to be a lot smaller – and it’s going to be chocolate fudge with a white cream cheese frosting.Β  Yep, I am deeming that insulin worthy!

Thanks again for all your sweet comments and emails – we appreciate it!Β  This weekend should be interesting.Β  Tony stops taking blood thinners tonight and we go to the hospital on Sunday to check is blood levels – if it’s below a certain number he will be admitted then, but most definitely he will be admitted on Monday for Tuesday’s surgery.Β  Hannah doesn’t have school on Tuesday so she’ll be there, and my Mom and SIL will be there too, so we’ll have a great support system.

Enjoy your weekend!Β  Come back Monday for a recap of our V-Day dinner! πŸ˜€

  1. Okay, Tony’s making ME cry with that comment!
Enjoy your Valentine’s dinner this weekend. Praying and sending cancer-free thoughts to Tony for Monday. Hugs to you both!

  2. The testicles comment is funny. My husband couldn’t BELIEVE how big they were at birth. That’s because he refused to watch all those baby birthin’ shows with me.

  3. I’m sure his son will love the reference to his testicles.

As usual, your food looks awesome!

  4. What a wonderful thought by Tony. Here’s hoping the tests go okay and you can proceed forward quickly.

    Those oats look fabulous, btw!

  5. I’ve been lurking for quite a while and have never commented…until Tony made me cry! (and laugh hysterically).

You guys brighten my mornings…sending many thoughts and prayers your way!

  6. Loved Tony’s comment! Sounds very similar to my hubby…

You guys are in my thoughts and prayers! BTW, it’s 6:30 a.m. here, and after seeing that cake, I now want cake for breakfast! πŸ™‚

  7. Thanks, Tony – now your comment made me cry!

(Biz, you know he’s just shaking his head and muttering “women!” right about now) πŸ˜‰

Enjoy your early Valentine’s Day – this old curmudgeon thinks it’s sweet that you two still celebrate it!

  8. Awwww Tony, you’re making me all verklempt over here. Best of luck with everything. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you won’t have to go into the hospital before Monday.

Biz, you’re putting me to shame with the V-Day dinner. I guess I should come up with something nice since I basically haven’t had to cook in two weeks!

  9. Awesome comments from Tony! I cry over everything! I can’t help it since I started going through menopause the flood gates have opened.

You both will be in my prayers. Sounds like you have a great support team lined up.

    Delicious food as always!

  10. I love a man with a sense of humor and you must too! Tony never fails to make me laugh. It’s been so long since I had Cary’s syrup I can’t remember if I liked it over any other s/f syrup. Right now I’m using Maple Grove Farms “butter” flavor sugar free maple syrup and I do like it as much as I can anything that’s sugar free. I haven’t had smuckers, so I can’t compare, but I think I do like it more than Cary’s. Anyway, you’ll never guess what I’m serving my hubby for V-day? Yup, filet mignon with mushroom sauce! haha! Except I only had the idea and not a recipe so I’ll probably go ahead and use the same one you are. Steak isn’t my thing but I know my hubby will be singing “hallelujah” since the only time he usually gets it is when he makes himself one. I hope you guys have a super-special Valentine’s Day celebration and don’t spend too much of it worrying. I’ll worry for you, how about that? I’ll keep Tony in prayer for his surgery. ❀

  27. Yum! I want to be your Valentine!

  28. Hi Biz! I visit your blog almost everyday to see what goodies you cooked up, and often I save those recipes to try for myself..but what also keeps in intrigued about your blog is that you share your story with the world. I love your positive attitude in life, and it seems like Tony and Hannah are not much different!
My mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, so I know how important a good support system is. Tony is lucky to have such a wonderful family and I know with you guys, he will be just fine!! keep up the good posts and have an awesome weekend and valentine’s day!! πŸ™‚

  29. Enjoy your early Valentines Day dinner! Thinking good thoughts for Tonys upcoming surgery. Please keep us posted on his progress as you can. Take Care.

  30. Testicles! So funny! I don’t think we have to dilate to 10 cm to birth that head, its those big balls that get us. I cry at everything. It is good to cry, but I have heard that cussing a blue streak can improve our pain tolerance by 30% (Mythbusters). Cuss or cry, hmmm? Can’t wait to hear about your dinner. Have a great weekend Biz!

  31. ha! He is such a hoot – and those are all very good reasons to cry. “stupid superbowl” LOL Guys crack me UP!

  32. Enjoy your dinner and good luck with Tony’s blood check, my thoughts are with you today!
