Flashback Friday

First let me say that by labeling my picture yesterday “retarded shining star” was in no way intended to offend anyone – I was merely poking fun at myself, and if I inadvertently offended you, it was no my intention at all.  Let’s just move on, shall we?

The storms stayed away yesterday and we had another hot day.  I ended up throwing stuff together for breakfast and lunch – still have no idea why Thursday’s menu plan was blank.

Breakfast was a 5 ounce baked potato, 1/2 cup egg beaters and 2 pieces of cooked bacon, crumbled, with a generous splash of Frank’s hot sauce.  Breakfast was 7 points – with bananas and clementines on the side.

I got my 55 minute walk in at lunch – I need sunscreen!  I don’t need anymore sunburn.   And since there is really no one around me, I sang to my iPod songs while I walked. 😀

Lunch was spinach and pork tacos – 3 oz. taco meat, spinach, a couple tablespoons of refried beans and half an apple.  Lunch comes in at 8 points.

Tony and I had to run an errand last night, so decided to go out to eat.  We ended up at Wool Street, which we kinda didn’t like the service last time – we were the only ones there and it took forever for our food to come out.   Since gas is now $4.49 a gallon, I was glad we decided to stay in town.

And we were happy with both the service and the food.  And it was busy – the Chicago Bulls won their playoff game and made it to the next round.  I had looked at the menu beforehand.  One of the items on the appetizer menu were pulled pork sliders – 3 in a serving.  I love pulled pork.  But a quick internet search – um, no thank you.  Each slider would have been 8 points!

So they had a grilled chicken breast with a side of penne pasta and broccoli.  I had my mind set on it.  Until Tony points to the menu and says “you’ve never had their pizza before and your last pizza didn’t turn out too good.”  True.  I toggled back and forth and ended up with a sausage and jalapeno pizza. 😀  It was the perfect size – an 8 inch thin crust – I ate 3/4 of it, so my guess is 11 points for 3/4 – hopefully that sounds right.

Um, turns out Tony “suggested” the pizza so that he wouldn’t have to suffer through Party Pizza Friday tonight!  I am sure Helen’s husband is like “what?”  He would love to have homemade pizza every night given the chance. 😀

And their beer special?  $2 Sam’s Adams Light.  I’ll have three please.  So while each on is 3 points, um, having 3 beers is 11 points – so dinner comes in at 22 points.

My trusty sides:

While there were storms to the north of us, our drive home was pretty:

Hannah texted me earlier in the day “The Gazebo is Up!”  She put the top and sides up on our gazebo – with all the rain we’ve had I can only imagine how bad the misquitos are going to be. 😦  Thanks Hannah!

Now onto Flashback Friday.  Long time readers will know that at my heaviest, I was 211 pounds (50 pounds heavier than I am now!).  The funny thing is though, if you ask Hannah, she never remembered me being fat – and I didn’t lose the weight until she was around 8 years old.

Here is a picture around 1996, and yes, Hannah is drying dishes – her OCD cleaning started way back then, I just didn’t realize it.  I am probably around 200 pounds here.

The great thing about the WW plan, is that I can still go out and have pizza and beer, and I am still on plan.  All I know is that I don’t ever want to be that big again, and I know by keeping up with the exercise, eating well 90% of the time, I will get to my goal. 😀

Stats for Thursday:

  • 39 points
  • 20 flex points left
  • 22 activity points earned
  • average blood sugar 119

What are you up to this weekend?  It’s going to be a bit chilly and rainy I think, but I know Tony and I want to smoke some more meat.  I have my WW weigh in tomorrow – I’ll do a quick post tomorrow with the results.

Have a great Friday!

  1. I just said that to myself last week. The great thing about weight watchers is that you can plan for almost anything. I had roast beef, roast potatoes, veggies, gravy and beer 🙂

This weekend is supposed to rain all day 😦 But then again I’m working all weekend

  2. That pizza looks great! 🙂 I would have made that choice too – so what’s on the menu tonight?

We have another game for Claire – so I’m leaving for work in a few and won’t be back home for 12 hours! Then pack for girl scout camp in Michigan!

    Hope it doesn’t rain!

  3. Chilly and rainy is NOT what I want for the middle of May! Seriously, I’m sick of this. Do you think it’s safe to put the shovels away?

So wish I had a mosquito proof gazebo! Mosquito season will be up and running as soon as it warms up!

  4. I sing along to my iPod when I walk alone, too…kind of freeing and definitely fun!

Sneaky Tony – how could he not want pizza every chance he gets??? LOL

  5. You certainly can have success with lasting weight loss. Whatever plan you choose to do it with. Funny, last week my sister was going through old photos and my nieces pointed to me in their baby pictures when I was 250 pounds. They kept asking who that was LOL! Couldn’t believe it was their aunt Lori.

That breakfast looks yummy. I need to have some potatoes for breakfast some time.

  6. Hope the weigh in goes well!! I love the looks of your breakfast potato! I actually put breakfast potatoes on the menu for brinner one night this week- can’t wait! And the pizza looks tasty too. I haven’t had pizza in a bit and now I’m craving some :). Hilarious that Hannah had OCD cleaning at a young age…I did too! I was always volunteering to wash or dry dishes and my room was pretty spotless for a kiddo. Have a great weekend. We have a few plans- frozen yogurt tonight, step, haircut & party tomorrow, brunch Sunday

  7. I do love the flexibility of the WW plan. No big plans for the weekend. Hubby is out of town so I am Spring cleaning! Cleaning out closets and pitching stuff we no longer need or want. It feels so good. Hannah and I could be good cleaning partners!

  8. I have the same attitude as you. I think that’s why I love WW. I’m still eating sensibly and practicing good habits most of the time, but there is still room for flexibility and fun.

  9. hi biz! i’ve been out of town and am playing catch up on all your posts. isn’t it a great feeling knowing that a healthy lifestyle really can include pizza and beer?? i have to say…i LOVE hannah’s leggings in that picture. i wore similar very bright, very tight leggings throughout my whole childhood. the worst were neon green and shiny with bright pink polka dots….a true fashionista 🙂

  10. Congrats for checking the points on the sliders before ordering! You’re quite the inspiration, Biz. Good luck with your weigh in!

  11. Weighting For 50

Like you, I love that you can build the WW plan around any indulgence!!! Have a great weekend Biz!

  12. Wow… I never realized you had lost 50 lbs… that’s amazing! It’s so great you can make such yummy meals that are guilt free to keep you on track, like that delicious looking breakfast bowl!

  13. You are 100% correct about Mr. Helen! In fact, I’m waiting right now to get a text that says, “Pizza for dinner?”

  14. Pizza and beer is really an amazing combo! Gotta love that!
I love potatoes with eggs but somehow seem to forget the two. Yum! Looks fantastic!

  15. Sensitive people indeed on the bad comments :-S. First time on your blog and you actually make WW meals look good and tasty. Awesome!

  16. Your backyard is beautiful! My parents just set up our outside dining area, too. So exciting- it means spring / summer is really here!

  17. You’re so right, Biz…that’s the beauty of it! I would even argue 80% produces weight loss. Now I just need to get closer to that 80%…I hover right at about 75% I’d say, and it’s just not enough to tip the scales here lately…I’ve been playing with fire 🙂 This week was good, though…she shall see! I WI tomorrow too! Happy weekend!!

  18. That’s exactly why I always loved Weight Watchers. 🙂 It’s so important to plan ahead though…good job with that.
That pizza is making me drool. Pizza is one of my favorite foods ever!

  19. I LOOVE pizza and beer nights!

  20. I’m sure I’ve said this before… your food photos are so amazing. That fruit looks so fabulous even. I did WW successfully many years ago and went back in January to learn about the new program but just can’t wrap my head around counting points again. Now it would be so much easier though with all the great blogs, like yours, with recipes with points attached.

It is unseasonably chilly here too this weekend. I have the first round of graduation parties to go to and will probably hit half of them. My goal is not to eat anything at any!

  21. Oh that orange looks so gooood! I haven’t had good fruit in a long time. This is such a neat flashback post! Congrats on your weight loss 🙂

  22. great job!!!!!!
