Week 6 of 101 Days of Summer Challenge

How did everyone survive the 4th of July?  Did you concentrate on the food more than the company?  Did you plan to splurge that day?  I know my dinner was 20 points, which included strawberry rhubarb pie.

My downfall was that I didn’t count points at all last weekend, and I only exercised Tuesday through Thursday.  That’s not acceptable.

My goals this week:

  • no wine Monday=Friday
  • exercise a minimum of 60 minutes a day
  • eat more fruits and veggies
  • track everything!

What are your goals this week?  Are you happy with how your summer is going?

Hannah comes home today!  But right now I am off to the grocery store to buy stuff for me and my SIL’s lunches this week – she LOVED my zucchini lasagna, so that’s on the menu, along with:

  • grilled chicken apple sausage with sauerkraut and sauteed apples
  • pulled chicken bba sandwiches with a broccoli bean salad (recipe to follow this week)
  • Indian beef curry with brown rice (recipe to follow this week)
  • shrimp pad thai with chicken egg roll (recipe to follow this week)

Anything new on your menu this week?  Have a great Sunday!

  1. ALL of your lunches sound awesome – I can’t wait to see the recipes. I have had such a craving for chicken sausage lately & I think I will get some, along with shrimp next time I grocery shop.

My week was good. I ran about 10 miles, went to yoga 6 days, and I got up into a headstand with the wall! It was only for a second or two and I still have a ways to go on my goal of holding it, but it’s a start! There are pictures on my latest blog post!

My goals for the week are: go on the group 5 mile run tomorrow here in Asheville that leaves from the local running store, do 7 days a week of yoga, and 2 days of strength training. I also want to start my new job & eat through all of my produce before it goes bad 🙂

  2. Owww- broccoli bean salad ? I can’t wait for the recipe for that one! I tried my hand at a hot mayo-less chicken salad last night. It turned out well but needs some tweaks. I may post the start of the recipe tomorrow (still debating). Have a nice Sunday

  3. Looking forward to the recipes! I hope you have a blast with Hannah!!

I leave for CA this week so my goals are to continue eating right and working out, even though I won’t be able to track as well since I won’t be eating my prepared meals until Wednesday of next week. oy.

  4. I really need to start tracking. My goal for the week was to look at the plethora of training options for my triathlon, and do something every day. But then I remembered that I’m going on a business trip T-W and have in-house training Th-F, so that’s out.

New goals: work out today and tomorrow. Don’t eat or drink too much on travel. Enjoy a glass of champagne when I get home on Weds (my 15th anniversary!) Work out Thurs, bike to work Fri (45 mins).

  5. A friend told me about your blog and I LOVE getting it. Thanks for taking the time to share your foods.. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

  6. Oo will you be making your own sauerkraut? I would love to see a recipe for that!

    • I’ve tried to make sauerkraut at home a couple times – first of all it takes like 2+ weeks and the results tasted like ass – I’ll just buy canned sauerkraut from now on. 😀

  7. Yeah for Hannah coming home today!

Hmmm…I need to get on this Biz’s lunch. I’m moving out your way so I can! 😀

This week has been great! Back on track – lost 0.7. No more counting points for me – it’s liberating! I also signed up for my second 5k of the summer, which was #2 goal for myself. I’m looking forward to running that as it’s different – how many people can say they ran on the warning track at Yankee Stadium?! Not to mention it’s for a wonderful cause.

  8. Weighting For 50

Hi Biz (Vat), OMG….LOVE the new layout!!!! It looks fantastic. (as do you in the grillin’ shot of yesterday) Have a great day with Hannah!!!

  9. cant wait to see your shrimp pad thia recipe, love that, have you ever heard or used pb2 peanut butter? for 2 tablespoons on 45 calories, its powdered but reconsitutes to a very nice peanut butter, we have been using it for a couple years now, so far i have only seen it on line..i will have to use your recipe for the shrimp but use my pb2 and see how well it turns out…

  10. Great goals… Not sure if I could do the no wine mon-fri 😉 Thank you for your walking advice. My goal this week is to walk a solid 30 minutes at 4.1 everyday…

Once again, your goals for the week are inspiring! It has been really hot here and I honestly haven’t felt like exercising. Also, my bike riding buddy (my son 🙂 hurt his foot at the pool this week and we haven’t gone out since. 😦 Hopefully it’ll feel better in a few days! No excuse for me though, I should still get my butt in gear. So this week my goal is to step up the exercise and get in all 5 sessions (last week I only did 4) and to give 110% at every workout! The 4th for me seemed to last forever – I just kept on indulging until it was already Friday and time to get on the scale. Ugh – up almost 2 pounds! Back to clean eating this week and cutting back on the sugar/desserts! Hope everyone has a great week! 🙂

  12. I think it’s always hard to come back after a holiday…thankfully my husband had to work, so we stayed home, which equaled not as much eating for me!

I am going to try and get my butt into gear this week and start walking more, I’m doing good on the eating part, just need to MOVE more.

  13. I stayed the same too! Oh well. I’m going to try to walk more this week – I think I have been slacking unintentionally. I’m gonna shoot for 45 minutes of walking a day, plus a few yoga classes.

  14. I love your goals for the week.
I really need to focus on increasing activity during the week. I really struggle with it.

  15. I forgot to update my situation yesterday!

Things are going swell. My 7-day step count average is still 10,000 plus I did 3 Flavia’s workouts.

I surprised myself by taking a new set of goal jeans photos (http://bodycapable.com/1475/weight-loss-in-pictures-2/ ) I THINK I’ve lost a bit fat, but am not sure.

I’m leaving on vacation tomorrow, so my only goal for the week is not to come back looking like a tank! 🙂

  16. I lost a little of the weight I gained on vacation but am still up 3# more than before. I did better on my exercise this week and did make one new recipe so technically I met all three of my goals this week but can hardly count the weight loss because it’s a re-weight loss. Only four weeks until my next vacation so I hope I learned my lesson after the last one. I’ll be keeping on keeping on this week. A good friend is starting WW this week so it’s always good to have a buddy to be on the journey with you.

  17. Yeah, I’m so going in the wrong direction!! I need to find a better way to deal w/ my stress instead of eating. Last week was tough. Hopefully this week will get better. I really need to get back on track.

Your goals are very doable. You’ll do fine. I’m not much of a wine drinker. I get so hot and sweat (glisten) like it’s nobody’s business! lol

    Have a great week!

  18. Wow, I haven’t been to your blog on the computer in a long time, just on my iPhone!! Love the new layout!

I really am just so upset about this challenge. I’m upset with myself. I’m upset with my body. And I’m upset with my will power. I have a wedding in 5 months and I’m packing on the pounds left and right. That’s unhealthy to begin with, but so much more upsetting now. I’ve been on medication for 1yr+ that has weight gain, so I know that’s a lot of the problem. But I’ve been going off the medication (you have to do it slowly) for over a month now, so I feel like it should be making it easier to lose weight. I have one pair of shorts that fit me right now, the rest are elastic. Size 11. That might not be much to a lot of people, but to me it’s heartbreaking. I used to dance 4-6 hours a day for 4 days a week. I was thin and fit and healthy.

I’ve been sticking with drinking water, but really I need to be doing so much more. I cut down on snacks at work and I’ve been eating healthy foods at home. I’ve eaten out twice in the 6 weeks I’ve been here and both times it was chinese with a lot of vegetables. My goal of riding my bike to the store hasn’t really worked out b/c I’m working so much and if I DO go to the store it’s at like 11pm on my way home from work to grab 1 or 2 essential things.

I’m just upset. I started this off wanting to lose 10-15 pounds before the wedding. Now, with the scale going up up up, instead of down, it’s more like 15-20 pounds I need to lose. I’m discouraged and my self esteem is in the tank from the weight and the sudden onset of acne. I’ve been to the dr. but I just hope some random bolt of lightning shoots out of the sky soon to shock me into action.

  19. I’m moderately happy with how things are going this summer…I feel like I have good days and bad days…which I suppose is normal, but I’d rather sort of have more medium days, if that makes sense, rather than super healthy and then super lazy days!

This week I’m going on a road trip with my boyfriend, so my goal is to pack us some healthy snacks for the road and to get in some good exercise hiking!

  20. I am back on track this week! The past 2 weeks have been a wash, but I’m hitting it hard this week! 5 workouts, meals planned, lots of fruits and veggies!

  21. My 4th of July was pretty low key but I made up for it this past weekend with a birthday celebration that continued on until yesterday. I forgot to post my challenge update but I think you already saw it (http://finallyfiguringitout.blogspot.com/2011/07/older-and-wiser-or-just-older.html).

I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve been doing and looking forward to getting to goal of 101 pounds lost during the 101 days of summer challenge. It seems like the right thing to do.

Hope you had fun catching up with Hannah.

  22. chicken costume, 2008-11-16This reivew is from: Best Price Chicken Deluxe Costume Adult SaleWe had so much fun trick or treating. The costume was such a success at events. The little children would come into the church, to my daughter and pull the suit and say “Hello Chicken ‘. Look your a chicken! The best bid for the best time.
