Sometimes $5 dollar pizza is worth it. And Blogger Lunch!

Thanks for everyones concern and advice for my low blood sugar swings.  You will be happy to know that I have an appointment with my endocronologist in November.  I skipped my quarterly July appointment when we didn’t have insurance. 😦  Meanwhile, I will keep on doing what I can to manage it until then. 😀  Luckily diabetes is a manageable disease!

Pork.  It’s what’s for breakfast.  I am not sure this picture will convey how good this breakfast sammie was – I had leftover sliced pork and made an egg white sammie out of it – when I added Tabasco to my sammie it was like having a pulled pork sammie – so good!  Breakfast comes in at 8 points.

I had an errand to run at lunch with Tony, so no work out for me yesterday.  It was a busy day at work anyway – I ate lunch at my desk – 2 beef tacos with sliced cucumbers – I made a dip of 1 tablespoon light ranch with 1 tablespoon taco sauce and hot sauce to dip my cucumbers in – so good.  Pretty sure I could have Mexican food every day and never get sick of it.  Lunch comes in at 9 points.

It was a rainy day in Chicagoland yesterday, but driving home the sky was beautiful.

I left work a little late, so I called Tony to let him know.  He asked what was for dinner and I suddenly realized I never defrosted anything and had no clue what I even had on the menu – so not like me!  So we went with Plan B.

They have a special – 3 topping 8 inch individual pizza for $5 bucks – how can you go wrong with that?  My pizza?  Italian beef, hot peppers and pepperoni – I ate half my pizza and am calling dinner 14 points.

I really need to make a light box – it’s almost dark by the time we eat dinner.  😦

Here is a picture of our “down town.”  I grew up in Oak Park and worked in Chicago for years.  When we first moved out here it took a while to adjust to no sidewalks, street lights, and traffic.  Our “down town” is only two blocks long!

While I still love going downtown to Chicago, I like our little country life.  How about you – are you a city mouse or a country mouse?

So excited for lunch today!!  I am meeting a long time blogger friend Robin of Big Red Kitchen for lunch at Carlucci’s.  She’s one of the most creative cooks I know – I am loving all her ideas on mason jar meals – how cool is this?  This is my first out of town blogger meet up – Shelley and Helen, I promise someday you’ll be next!

Stats for Thursday:

  • 31 points
  • no exercise
  • average blood sugar 92

Happy Friday!  Make it a great day!

  1. I love how balanced your meals always are. You never forget your fruit and veggies!!
I think I’m a city girl, but I really love little local towns, too. I’m all about supporting the local community. 🙂
Have a great lunch today, Biz!

  2. Your lunch has me craving something Mexican for my lunch today! I will definitely try the ranch dressing/taco sauce dip! mmmm!!!

I was born in raised in pure country in upstate NY. My school was K-12, graduating class of 50, which was huge for where I lived. Now, I live in LI, suburb, but out East, so it’s a mix of both. I have a good sized property, lots of trees, but am close to stores. I definitely an inbetween – country & city girl.

Have fun on your lunch today! I don’t know of any bloggers nearby… Wish I was closer to you to enjoy those meals! 🙂

  3. Pork breakfast sammie sounds good. I often eat normal foods for breakfast and sometimes eat breakfast foods for lunch or dinner. This morning I ate taco stuff for breakfast. I’m definitely more of a suburb person.

  4. Have you ever thought to go wheat free and see how your numbers turn out? I’ve been doing a lot of reading about wheat and what it does to the body and it might be an interesting challenge, in the weeks before your appointment to cut out wheat for a few weeks and see if you notice anything different. Just a thought…

  5. Can I say I’m a combo mouse? I love living in the city but I also love it when I’m in DE at the beach which is pure country living (there’s a reason why they call it Slower Lower).

  6. Awww, I’m jealous of Robin. Although I know when you, me and Helen finally get together, it will be EPIC! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I am more of a suburban mouse, but I have a hankering to live in a loft downtown for a while. The dog is an issue, though…having had a huge backyard, I can’t imagine having to walk him several times a day, EVERY day.

  7. Average of 92? Low! I’m glad you’re seeing your endo soon 🙂

The Italian beef on the pizza sounds soooo good! We had Giordonos last night with sausage, mushroom, and green olives. SO GOOD! I ❤ Chicago pizza!

    Happy weekend, Biz!

  8. Rosati’s! We used to get pizza from there, too.

I am sort of mixed on the city/country thing. I love all of the things available in a city, but I like privacy and space at home. Guess that is why I am a Gemini 😀

  9. As far as I’m concerned, pork it’s what’s for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thanks for visiting me.

  10. Yeah it poured here yesterday but Himself and I made the best of it, then saw the beautiful sky when we got back to the hotel! Skipping breakfast so I can pig out on lunch;-) See ya!

  11. The sky is beautiful!! I keep telling myself that I need to make a lightbox too. I’m tired of my crummy photos! haha. Have a great weekend!

  12. We live in the burbs but we have a pond and nature preserve right next to our house so our back yard looks out over the pond complete with water fowl! We feel like we have the best of both worlds right here in town.

Enjoy your bloggy buddy meet up!

  13. I love my small town I live in. But my “big” city is only about 200,000 people. So that is probably small for you! I applaud you for exercising as much as you do. It seems every time I try to get into a good routine I get sick. So I have a sinus infection and brochitis. Took off most of the week and am back at it again today. Here’s to me losing some weight before I get sick again!!!

  14. I’m a country mouse…although I love all things about the city. Our little town is just 3,000 people, but have bigger towns close by that allows me much more!

  15. I made a light box in preparation for winter…we have a spare closet and set it up inside there…and then C promptly dismantled it because he needed extra lighting for his Halloween display on the porch. So dark pictures for me until November 1 😉

I grew up in a really small town, but have been in the city for almost 10 years now – I can’t believe it’s been that long!

  16. Have fun at lunch today! 🙂

  17. Light box or no light box, your shot of the pizza with its oozy cheese caught my attention! May I just say that your pictures are just beautiful!

  18. Love the unconventional twist on your breakfast sandwich.. the pork is a great addition! I love being in the city, though I think it’s because I’ve been in a small town all of my life. When I go to the city it’s a treat! Have fun at lunch 😀

  19. How freaking awesome is it that little town you live in!!!!!! I LOVE it! I would move there. Today. Even though it gets really, really, really cold up there. In the great white north. Brrrrr…… LOL

  20. Do you take meds with your insulin? If so, maybe your meds need to be adjusted. Just a thought.

  21. I live in a town of 500 people. I used to live in a city with a pop. of over 175,000. Quite a difference now. I don’t miss the traffic and rush hours, but I actually have to do more driving since you have to drive to get anywhere to shop or whatever. Both have their pros and cons.

  22. I think I would prefer your little town to Chicago or Oak Park, I grew up in a town of 400
