I have no choice – I need to be an AM exerciser.

I knew that the temps were going to be decent yesterday, so I decided to forego my morning workout and sleep in a bit.  With the thunderstorms and rain, it washed away most of the snow on our drive – love it because I hate how icky days old snow looks, just dirty.

Last time I was at the grocery store I found these buffalo chicken sausages on the sale rack – not sure what they normally sell for, but my package was only $1.99.

Hello spicy!  And the stats?  3 WW points each!

I ended up making a buffalo chicken sausage hash with the sausage, 3 oz. potato, 1/2 cup egg whites and baby spinach.  Who doesn’t like to start out the day with a spicy mouth?! 😀  Breakfast comes in at 7 points.

The reason I need to be a morning exerciser is because while it was 45 degrees when I left the house, by the time lunch had rolled around, it had dropped almost 20 degrees and was snowing/raining sideways.  So no lunch workout for me. 😦

Lunch was leftover beef and bean salsa soup that I had frozen – 8 WW points.

So since I didn’t work out I made doctor appointments – three of Tony’s doctors wanted to follow up with him within a week of getting out of the hospital.  Two of them only have office hours near our house one day a week, so I did those first.  One nurse said “the earliest I can get you in is January 31st.”  I said “wow, you don’t have anything open before then?”

I looked at my calendar and realized January 31st is a week from today!  I can’t believe how fast this month has gone by already!

Tony picked up all his prescriptions yesterday, he’ll be taking two oral antibiotics the next week.  He’s still super tired, and he was a bit sore from walking after being sedentary for a week.  He’s catching up on sleep too! 😀

I still haven’t gone to the grocery store, so I told Tony “I have stuff to make burgers, pasta, chicken. . .”  He stopped me at burgers, but then I had no hamburger buns, only bread, so he had a patty melt.

I decided to have an Italian burger over zucchini.  I sauteed some zucchini in 1 tsp. olive oil (1), then cooked a 4 ounce 93% lean burger (4), topped it with 3/4 ounce slice of provolone cheese (2) and put some of my pasta sauce overtop (2) – a delicious 9 WW point dinner.

When I was downloading my pictures I realized something.  The chili I had eaten about 5 times at the hospital?  It was 9 points a serving based on their nutrition label.  What I didn’t realize was that the serving size was 8 ounces.

Um, guess what the soup cups were next to the soups and chili?

16 ounces!!  So what I thought was an 11 points cup of chili with the cheese and sour cream was more likely 20 points.  Isn’t that crazy?!  When I entered “16 ounces chili with beans” into WW eTools, I got a range between 14 points and 29 points, so I think 20 points seems right in the middle. 😦

I am off to do my morning abs on Exercise TV, while Hannah is making us breakfast pizza.  Make it a great day!

  1. Hamburger with pizza sauce and provolone and zucchini.. Why have I not thought of this? That looks so delish…

I am a morning workout person too. Not because of weather(florida girl) but because I just am not a night owl. I am in bed at 8pm with my book.

Tony still on our prayer list. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Morning Biz!

That stinks about the chili – but even with that, you lost weight – so it’s all good, just move on.

Love the price on those chicken links – I would buy those in a second!

  3. Good morning Biz. Glad that Tony is home and feeling better. He’ll get stronger as the days go by. I always love reading what you’re eating, some of the stuff you make looks awesome. I’m not to much for really spicy so I’ve toned down a couple of the items I’ve tried from you but still yummy.
I prefer am work-outs but just depends on daycare, bus and so on. Yesterday was am, today is nap time, tomorrow is after work. I do notice I run best first thing in the morning but will take what I can get.
Take care and have an awesome day. Blessings my friend!!

  4. Ouch on the chili points! I hate it when I under estimate something like that but live and learn.

Hope Tony gets his mojo back real soon!

  5. Glad Tony is back home! Oh that sausage looks awesome.

  6. I’m glad Tony is home Biz. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

I’m definitely a morning exerciser. I missed my morning workout this morning, I went out for a run but the roads were icy and I don’t run then because I’m afraid of falling. I walked home and thought “oh well, I’ll do something tonight” but now it’s after 3 in the afternoon and I know that’s not going to happen. Work is busy and I don’t have the energy to workout after work. It’s just a long walk with Bella today.

The burger with zucchini looks soooooooooo good!

  7. O that sneaky chili! I hate it when that happens.

    Your meals all looked delicious.

  8. glad Tony is back home! yay!

That totally sucks about the chili…sometimes it is so tiring always having to be a super sleuth when it comes to eating! I just hate it sometimes. You did the best you could under the circumstances though. You could have had fried crrap all week….just saying. But still….

I agree with you on the rain washing away the dirty snow….yuck. I think dirty snow is more depressing looking than a drab gray day without any snow on the ground. And it takes…what a day…for the snow to go bad? lol Thinking springish thoughts here in Ohio! lol

  9. You’re amazing! Tony is just back from the hospital and you’re producing gorgeous photographic meals, watching your budget, tracking your points, working, and looking for ways to incorporate more exercise in your day. Wonder woman! Sorry about the chili points–but I know you, you’ll make it all work out. And you lost last time, even so. So glad Tony is sleeping well–sleeping is so recuperative. Have a good day!

  10. I hate when you realize after the fact that your portions and calories/points were so far off 😦

I’ve been keeping up with your posts some on Google Reader (I haven’t read a blog in over a week, it’s crazy)…I’m glad Tony’s home and hopefully on the rebound for GOOD!

  11. Oh no! Stay warm over there!!!! Ugh to the follow ups, hope you get everything scheduled and done. mmmm to the warmness over there. Chili & soup – fantastic.

  12. That’s frustrating about the chili! Oh well, at least you still lost weight! I used to be an a.m. exerciser but got out of the routine. I need to get back into it!

  13. I think that’s why portion awareness is so important, and one think that WW has taught me. Believe me, a few scares like that made me super aware of what a cup looks like!

  14. Ugh, that really stinks about chili! I hate when places have things going by the serving size, and then they give so much more than a serving size.

I can’t believe next week is the 31st either, I’m sooo excited though!

  15. I hate when I get fooled by serving sizes like that! It’s so annoying!

  16. Morning exercise is the only way to make sure it will happen. Sometimes you just get busy or distracted (or lose steam) as the day ticks by. Good luck!

  17. I love when chicken sausage is browned like that, very tasty. And for not having a lot in your fridge you sure did put together an incredible looking meal. Have a great day!

  18. I was checking out my calendar this morning and was surprised that I was looking at the bottom of the month. Seriously, where does the time go???

Hope Tony recovers quickly now that he’s home!

  19. I hate when that happens. Serving sizes are so tricky!
Buffalo chicken sausage sounds delicious – and it reminds me to take the sausage out of the freezer when I get home!

  20. First of all, I NEED those sausages. You know my love for all things buffalo sauce! Ahhh!
You are so creative with your meals. Love the dinner idea with the zucchini!

    • I actually thought of you when I bought them! I have an idea for making a sauerkraut/buffalo chicken sausage soup – it sounds good in my head, so we’ll see!

  21. Must…find….buffalo chicken sausage!!! That breakfast is right up my alley – perfectly hearty! YUM!

And whoa – that sucks about the chili. Oh well, moving on, right?!

YUMMY dinner – love zucchini! I see you managed to sprinkle lots of red pepper flakes to spice it up! 😀

So glad Tony is home & able to catch up on some sleep. His body needs to repair. Praying for a speedy recovery!

  22. Lately I have really been enjoying the whole spicy mouth phenomenon… I’ve been putting jalapenos or hot sauce on everything! 🙂

  23. I hate that portion thing. Like for restaurant menus online when a salad has stats, but then the serving size says 2! WTF is up with that?

  24. I’ve made those big mistakes on figuring WW points because I misread a serving. Sounds like things are getting better at your house and your husband is improving. That is great! 🙂

  25. I think they sell that sausage brand around here, it is definitely something I want to try!

  26. Hey, even at 16 oz you still lost weight! So I wouldn’t worry so much. And the chili DOES look good.

Glad Tony is home safe and sound. I laughed about you saying “Don’t you have anything sooner?” That IS soon for a doctor, but I, too, can’t believe it is almost February. Wow.

  27. i’m so glad tony is home and doing better! here’s to a quick recovery!

it’s so weird to me that it’s warmer in the morning than the afternoon, we’ve had that here too. i’m an am exerciser too. anytime i think that i’ll just work out in the evening, it NEVER happens.

i have GOT to get my hands on that sausage…that sounded kind of dirty, haha!

  28. I’m going to put spinach in my egg beaters tomorrow for the first time. I have spinach that I don’t know what to do with, I’ve never been a huge spinach fan but I think I’ll like it in eggs. Too bad on the chili!! Chili is awesome but it’s deceptively high calorie.

  29. Those sausages look amazing! I need to be a morning workout person, and it just isn’t happening ….. 😦

  30. Holy Cow! 20 pts for chili?!? That’s crazy! I love the buffalo chicken sausage…never seen at my grocery store, have to look for it.

  31. I love your dinner pic! The zucchini is so pretty with the red sauce.

I hate when the servings are misleading. Like when you get a small bag of pretzels only to discover that one bag is 2.5 servings. Who in the world stops with 1.5 of the bag to go?!
