Operation Bad-Ass!

I’ve decided it’s time to put up, or shut up.  When I started this blog in 2008, I weighed 168 pounds and thought by showing what I ate and how I worked out, it would give me the accountability I needed to get my ass in shape.

Well, here we are, nearly 3 1/2 years later, and I weigh 164 pounds.

I’ve lost and gained the same 5 pounds for years but now I really want to get moving.  It’s time to start walking the walk!

So what is Operation Bad Ass?  Really, it’s a 30 day challenge for myself.  I figure that I can follow any plan for 30 days!

Here are my “before” pics.  I love that the strap is twisted on one side and I am wearing my glasses, and have no make up on.  But really, why should I try to be something I am not.  Like classy! Open-mouthed smile  And I am sure everyone wanted to see my stretch marks on my tummy. Thumbs up

I know there is an athlete’s body underneath there – I just have to kick ass and let her out!

So I made a motivation poster.  Basically it looks like a second grader made it, but I am a sticker whore.  I like to reward myself with stickers!  My plan is to write in what I did each day in the calendar boxes.

My goals are to the side:

before 074

  • 1500 – 1600 calories a day
  • 25-30% of calories from fat
  • Less than 125 carbs per day
  • 90 minutes of exercise, includes 4 days of strength
  • Wednesday is my rest day
  • In bed between 10:30 and 10:45
  • Limit wine to six glasses a week
  • Eight servings of fruits and veggies a day
  • One Cheat Meal per week

My plan is to just make each day the best that I can.  I have no excuses.  I don’t have little kids to take care of.  I have time to hit up the gym before work.  The only thing I’ll probably have to change is I normally do my blog posts in the morning before work, I’ll just have to write them the night before.

I am using Windows Live Writer and am loving it.  I used it a long time ago on our old computer, but it made our computer really slow.  I reinstalled it on the computer we got last summer (a used one I bought from a co-worker) and hopefully it will make my blog post time quicker.

So I promise to write about the awesome bread I made yesterday, but that will wait until tomorrow’s post.  I plan on doing the recap of BSI – Pasta, and will announce next weeks ingredient which will be . . . flour!

Here is a sneak peak:

You go!! I’m not gonna be bad ass with ya, for obvious reasons, but I’ll be your cheerleader.

  2. You go girl! So funny, just this morning I decided I need to kick it up myself! I’ve been trying to lose the same 10 pounds for quite some time. I need to just do it – and for me – food is the key. So, I’m with you – I am going to track what I eat for a month (which is huge for me!) HUGE kudos for posting pics online!

  3. Roz@weightingfor50

    Go Badass Vat!!!!!!!

  4. You can do it! It doesn’t seem to me that you need to lose all that much. And, don’t lose the glasses–I think they complement you!

    Best,
    Bonnie

    • Thanks Bonnie – at least the glasses aren’t as big as my face! 😀 And for the record, my doctor wants me to be 125 pounds – that’s 39 pounds! 😦

  5. Go Biz, you got this!! I love Operation Bad-Ass!

I already set my goals, but I think I’m going to take some before pictures and measurements today now.

I’ll be cheering you on every day 🙂

  6. I do!!! I do!!! I want to exercise at least 4 days a week and lose 5 lbs in the month of April!! I am in the same boat as you…lose/gain the same 5 lbs over and over. I want out of the 200’s and into 1derland once and for all.

  7. I think your pictures are adorable. I’m doing another challenge right now and I’m tracking my exercise on a little calendar. Your poster would be easier to write on and a lot easier to read. Good luck in April! 🙂

  8. Good for you! I’m doing an “April Spring Clean” – just posted about it this morning!

  9. Peggy Russell

Ey to go, Biz!!! I will jump on board with you, however, my bad ass next is not as complex! I want to follow the C2 5k program consistently every other day, continue tracking everything, and check myself at the emotional eats door! You can do it, Biz!!

    =)

  10. I think this is awesome, and you know we will be cheering you on from the comments section 🙂

  11. ROCK it! I like those workout pants! They look comfy and are super cute.

  12. Ive never commented before, but you go Biz! You’re totally gonna kick ass and take names with this!

  13. Go, Biz, go!!! We all believe in you!

  14. Your pics are my “after” 🙂 I need a kick in the ass as well! Got up and worked out before my trip today, even packed my workout gear. Intend to come home from this trip at least even on the scale. Will be a challenge since I am going to the land of beer, Ireland. Wish me luck!

  15. You are going to kick this bad ass challenge in well, the ass! Woot woot!! I’m so excited for you Biz and think you are going to do great. There is nothing better than having something keep you accountable while you try and accomplish a goal! I use a calendar too!!!

And how did you register for WLW?!?! I can’t get my own blog site to register when I try to sign up; super frustrating! Bc i hate using the wordpress site!!!

  16. Well Biz, you know I’m cheering for you – stick to your plan and I think we’ll be seeing a much smaller you on May 1st! 🙂

My goals for April are to make it through the month with all the crazy races I’ve signed up for. Eeek, what was I thinking?!?

  17. Ok you bad ass, if anyone can do it you can! Love the pics, wish I looked that good!

  18. I am right there with you! I made a plan with my husband yesterday. He works crazy hours lately, so I’ll be going to the gym in the morning and if he’s at home early in the evenings I’ll go again or I’ll just do a DVD at home. Let’s do this! April is a hard month for me, so I could use a challenge 🙂

  19. This REALLY inspired me! I just joined WW a little over a week ago and I have been dreading exercising of any type. ( I have a LOT of weight to lose) But I’ve decided to be a BAD ASS with you this month! I’ll be setting up some goals!

    Sherry

p.s. My blog is on Spark People so I am not sure if you can read it if you don’t have an account :/

  20. andreaswellnessnotes

Great challenge! Love the calendar! I love stickers, too! 🙂

    Have a fabulous week!

  21. i’m with you biz!! not sure what my goals are – maybe yoga 5x a week! and no snacking after dinner 😉

  22. You rock Biz! I’m kicking the crap out of the 160s this month myself. Buh bye! I really love your chart and your bad ass attitude. I think we can only keep trying. I hope you had a great weekend. I’m cheering for you girl!!!

  23. I love this!! And great name! How can you not be excited for an “operation bad ass!!’
I will definitely be joining in. I need to get on board. I have been struggling here and there for quite some time.

  24. You can DO this! I love your chart. I have some goals for April and will join you. I want to lose 7 more pounds and. and the exercise side I want to rawk (walk/run) 90 minutes at least 3 days a week and bike 10 or mile miles at least 2 times a week. WE can DO this!

  25. I love your chart! The only thing I disagree with it the one cheat meal per week. Bad-asses don’t cheat!! One month, no cheating!! 🙂

I’ve done so much worse than you, I’ve GAINED weight and am in a horrible slump so I will try to be as basass as you. (if that would even be humanly possible!) 🙂

    • hi squirrel i have a pro nitro buggy and i tuned it and i dont think im gitetng the full speed how do iknow when im going full speed and when i do go full speed it slow down and sounds like it is about to shut down can you help iknow the full speed is 60 miles ph i wram it up befor i try to go full speed but it wont go yhe full 60 so can please help thanks

  26. Hi Biz! Personally, I would say to take on weight lifting very seriously. You don’t really look very big in size. I think you’re mostly looking for the muscle/fat ratio to change, right? Heavy weight lifting can do that.

    🙂 Marion

  27. Sweet post!! I made my April Action plan today as well!!! I need to step it up with strength training, my goal is 3x a week, and change up the cardio for the month!! We got this!!!

  28. That’s exactly what I did for March! Dug my heels in and just did it! Was I perfect heck no, but I did a lot better than I have for a while.

  29. You go, girl! We’ll be cheering you all the way! (Love your honesty and willingness to share your before pics–it’s nice to see a real woman that hasn’t been photoshopped to perfection!)

  30. Best of luck to you, Biz! Or should I say, kick some ass!

  31. Just do it. I know you can.

  32. Good luck with your operation bad ass…

Love the reward sticker idea…Though I have denied myself one of my favourite things.I will allow myself that thing when I reach my target of 3″ off my thighs…

The thought of that reward is keeping me motivated…

I look forward to seeing your after photo’s in 30 days time

    Karen x

  33. Funny that I thought about the same you did and my plan to lose the final weight is almost the same as yours.

So I say, let’s do it Biz, we can do it!

  34. Sounds like a great plan Biz!! I need to cut out all my cheat meals! 😉

  35. I love the sound of this Biz !!! You’re so inspiring. ;0) I totally want to join in. I recommitted myself to (what I’m now calling my own version of) Operation Bad Ass as of last weekend. ….and then you posted this. Let’s do it together sister !

  36. Go Biz! You can do it! Love your goals and plan. The pictures are great, such great motivation you give us all.

  37. I absolutely love you! You crack me up! I have the same body shape, etc. – stretch marks & all – the things we do for our babies! 😀

  38. I’m in the same boat. I’ve been losing and re-gaining the same 5 pounds for the last couple years. I’ll be Bad Ass with you. Love the Chart!

  39. This is great. You are so inspiring. I just took my “before” photos this weekend, and it is a real wake up call. I just stated to jog using the couch potato to 5 k app, and it really kicked my butt. I am not a runner or a jogger and every muscle hurts! My mental game is weak and so is my physical game. I have yet to go back to jogging/exercising and demolished a whole jar of crunchy biscoff spread. So, I think it is time for me to join OBA!! Keep up the good work.

  40. […] I just say that I was hoping you wouldn’t notice that my big fan fare announcement April 1st was operation bad ass kind of lost steam towards the end of the […]
