I smell like Tony.

I’ve discovered another phenomenon since Hannah has moved out.  Um, turns out all the pretty body washes like these:

were purchased and taken with her.  I no longer smell like mango melon or very vanilla.  Now I smell like Nivea for men and Irish spring soap.  No offense Tony, it smells good on you!  Hannah painted my nails on Mother’s Day – I had to go out and buy nail polish remover, an emery board and cotton balls.  Upon further review it looks like I am left with one bottle of face lotion and eye makeup remover.

It got me thinking that I am pretty sure I’ve “borrowed” girly stuff my whole life.  I am sure my sister bought that stuff when we were growing up.  When I moved back in with my parents after Hannah was born, I often just used the stuff on my Mom’s vanity desk.  And then Hannah started buying the stuff!  Note to self:  buy good smelling soap – stat! Open-mouthed smile

Tony and I had a great weekend.  Saturday night Tony made me mussels with chorizo – even at The Fresh Market mussels were only $2.99 a pound!

Cherries were also $1.99 a pound, so I made a batch of grilled cherry salsa.  Not as good as when I make it with Rainier cherries, but still delicious.  This time I grilled them on a wire rack and didn’t lose one!

While at the Fresh Market on Saturday, Tony picked up a package of all beef hot dogs.  Holy shizz these were delicious.  Thankfully I woke up too late to have breakfast so I could enjoy this dog!  I chopped up cherry peppers for the topping.

I had a work dinner to go to last night.  Rosebud in Schaumburg took great care of us last night.  The food was stellar, the service was terrific.   I stole these pictures from the internet, it was really dark and my pictures didn’t do the food any justice.

We had appetizers in the bar area:  fried ravioli with a vodka sauce, arranchini balls and bruschetta.

I was literally full before we even sat down to dinner!  But I ordered Grandma’s Gravy which was a meat sauce with big chunks of beef and pork with wagon wheel pasta and fresh ricotta cheese.

I ate only about four or five bites, I was so full.  When I got home, I decided to weigh the remaining food – guess what?  I had 1 pound 9 ounces of food left!  The portion sizes are insane.

Tony and I split the coconut cake which upon one look I deemed insulin worthy!

It was light, not overly sweet.  We managed to eat half of it and smartly decided not to bring the rest of it home.

So it’s no big surprise that with a big dinner and not a lot of water drinking, I am up this week.  But only up .4 from last week, so I will count that as maintaining!

My mantra this week?

Work harder.

What was the highlight of your weekend?

  1. I’ve never really had anyone to borrow “girly things” from as I live in a house full of boys! 🙂

Restaurant portions are often insane. Even if you decide to eat half, it’s often still way too much food… The appetizers look amazing though! 🙂

    Have a great week, Biz!

  2. Funny on the soap! Irish spring is for sure a mans soap. 🙂

Love those cherries ont the grill. I would never think to do that.

What’s that saying…”you never know what you have until it’s gone”? Who knew that having your daughter move out also meant all of the girly stuff would go, too!?!

  4. Haha…I’m not super girly either. I have some girly products, but not a ton! Yayyy for more salsa and a delicious dinner out. Highlight of my weekend? Josh coming home from travel and teaching body step for the first time in forever ever

  5. findingradiance

I like to shop for pretty smelling shower gels at TJMaxx or HomeGoods. They are so much cheaper for the premium stuff. Other than that, the Suave Naturals stuff is quite nice 😀

  6. Who knew Hannah moving would be the end of the girly stuff? Talk about not knowing what you have until it’s gone LOL! You can do it Biz, put “girly body wash” on your shopping list.

Your dinner out looks magnificent – glad you enjoyed it!

  7. Haha I know exactly what you mean about the soap thing! I used the stuff at my mom’s house forever until I moved out….and then I had to start buying my own. Buying the girly stuff makes me feel so…umm…girly….haha but I love it!

  8. I don’t consider myself to be super girly, but then I look at my bathroom and sure do have a lot of “girly” products.

My mantra this week also needs be “Work Harder”!

  9. I like that mantra and may borrow it for myself this week. I’ve done well with my eating, but need to work harder to incorporate exercise and more water. Have a great week!

  10. I swear I’m going to try grilling fruit this summer. Some Georgia peaches with some fish would be awesome. The cherries are a brilliant idea!!

  11. Besides not having to cook, eating out usually means 2 meals dinner and lunch for the next day, which I love. Your taunting me with your cherry salsa! I must make that soon. No real highlights, just enjoyed my pool and time with the hubs.

  12. Sounds like you had some great eats…I looooove mussels! So yummy!

  13. Yummy food! I need to make some of that cherry salsa. Got my first rainiers of the season 🙂

  14. I don’t remember ever liking coconut but the kids do and I have had a hankering for it – so I bought some the other day and I am going to make a pie or a cake. The restaurant pic’ looks soooo good.

Christmas is coming – hopefully Tony and Hannah can replenish your borrowed beauty supplies. In our home it is the opposite – I am always losing my stuff to the girls. No worries tho’ – I know where to find it. And I know you like a bargain – you should check out the $1 store for body washes. I found the nicest scrubby body wash with $1 scrubby there and then a few weeks later they had the body splash. I love it. And it’s cheap! 🙂

LOVE the grilling tip for the cherries!!! I want to try that, and I just KNEW I’d lose a bunch somehow!!!! May your week bring you girlier smelling products!!! 🙂

  16. Your post title made me imagine all sorts of things until I read it! I try to only eat half of restaurant portions but sometimes it’s hard if it’s super good and unique to anything I could make. Not sure I had a weekend highlight. Seemed like it was the usual driving kids around…Have a great week!

  17. I am all about Nevia… ‘Touch of Happiness’ and ‘Touch of Smoothness ‘…mmmm smell SO GOOD!

  18. Haha, when I read your title I wasn’t sure what to expect! Guess my mind is in the gutter more often than not!!
I’m so like you in the girly thing, but sometimes I find something I can’t live without! Like tinted moisturizer! 🙂
Your mussels look great, nice job Tony! 🙂
