So Many Apps and Food T.V.!

I have to give Tony props.  He knows I eat, breathe and live food.  When we first got together and I was meal planning, I’d ask “how about pork chops on Thursday?”  He was like “how the hell do I know if I want pork chops on Thursday?!”

In the 12 years we’ve been together, I am pretty sure Tony has watched way too many hours of cooking shows with me – and this summer is no exception.  Not only do we have Hell’s Kitchen (2 nights in a row!) we also have MasterChef too!   And let’s not forget about Chopped and Next Food Network Star.

It just dawned on me though that I almost always walk out of the room when he starts watching “his” t.v., i.e. war movies, MMA, John Wayne films.  So Tony, I declare I will watch “Tony T.V.” with you any time you want, and I won’t even have my cell phone with me to check Facebook!

I’ve also just signed up with Pinterest too – just another way to waste some time, but I am sure I’ll be addicted to it soon enough.

Which brings me to Apps.  I have discovered the wide world of apps and its addicting.  Although I do have one beef with apps – I love Scrabble!  But no one in my family will play with me anymore because I basically dominate. Open-mouthed smile  So when I found Words with Friends I was stoked!  I let the phone pick my opponent – I make the first move, and then nothing.  No response – after three days of five different games going, no one ever played back.  Pretty sure they are scared of me.

So if anyone is on Words with Friends, will you play with me?  I’ll promise I’ll be nice. Open-mouthed smile

I emailed my workout buddies yesterday that I stayed up way too late the night before last and when the alarm went off I thought “hells to the no.”  But I didn’t want to cop out and send an email that I didn’t make it to the gym, so I got my butt up and out the door.

Um, it was already 77 degrees at 6:30 a.m.!  And for the record, in case you were wondering, you can never have too many pictures of clouds, trees and sunsets. Open-mouthed smile

I ended up pounding out just over 7.5 miles on the bike – my thighs were on fire by the end, I was sweaty and felt great to start the day out like that.

I have no pictures of breakfast and lunch because it was a repeat of yesterdays breakfast and lunch – zucchini quiche and lasagna soup.  However, I did notice yesterday that the noodles in the soup were kind of absorbing all the broth, so I brought in some chicken broth to fix the soup yesterday – um, bad mistake, the flavor was all off and reheating the soup almost made the noodles soft as baby food. Sad smile

So when I got home from work Tony asked “what’s for dinner?” and I realized I never defrosted the pork chops!  “How about we got out?”  You really don’t ever have to ask me that twice, as much as I love to cook, I like to eat out equally as much.

We hit up Wool Street – so far we have yet to be disappointed in this place.   Tony and I both love Rolling Rock, but I’ve never had it on tap – holy shizz is this a good beer on tap!

I didn’t end up having any fruit with breakfast, and with my lackluster soup which I only ended up eating 1/2 of, I was hangry by the time we got to dinner.  I ended up getting the trio of sliders – two pulled pork and one burger – the burger was overcooked (hard not to do because it was tiny) but the pulled pork is amaze balls.  I asked the bartender “if you happen to stumble across any sliced jalapenos back there and they end up on my plate, I am okay with that.”

I ate the whole bowl of jalapenos – maybe 15-20 slices.  For the record, Tony doesn’t usually kiss me for 24 hours after I eat a jalapeno. Devil  I have spicy lips!

So all in all, while I haven’t figured out the calories, I think as a whole I did okay.  I mean, who can say no to beer and pulled pork on hump day?!

I have Heather to thank for our daily Inspiration today – I saw this on Facebook yesterday – thanks Heather – love it!

don't give up

Off to the gym – Day 3!  Make it a great day!

  1. I’ll totally play words with you – my name is alwaysjoy I’m ok not great if you want a challenge play my husband he’s amazing

  2. I do the same thing with Ray–he sits and watches all of my shows and then when he turns the channel I leave to do something else, or I’m on my phone the whole time. I kind of feel bad now. haha!

You can play me in words with friends if you want…. Sammie8706 and I kind of suck–or at least Ray always kicks my ass.

    Have a great day, Biz!

  3. Yesterday was totally one of those days for me too- go go go no time for anything! You and Josh can be jalapeno friends- he cannot get enough! If you lived close by, I’d give you some from our garden- we have a bajillion. Hope you got your workout in already!

  4. I’ve never commented before, but I really enjoy reading your blog every day. And I’d love to play Words with Friends with you! My username is kelinico1e.

  5. let’s play! i love words with friends and never have enough games going. you can find me under jk617

  6. Haha, I’ve never noticed Mark having spicy lips after eating hot peppers. Maybe we don’t kiss enough! It was funny…we went to our favorite pizza place one last time. He always orders the “cherry bomb” which has jalapenos and habaneros. The habaneros were ORANGE and he was like, “They don’t look hot!” I told him that those are the HOTTEST. OMG, he almost died. I was worried he was going to over-hydrate because he drank probably 2 gallons of water!!!

    • Yep – I made the mistake of taking a full bite like an apple the first time I ate a habanero – I almost died too because I had no dairy in the house to tame the flames coming out of my mouth!

  7. I love food shows and Gordon Ramsey rocks my world!

  8. I’m jumping in from here Biz after my vacation. I would love to play words with friends with you but I have a blackberry. Have to wait till December before I can buy an Android phone or Iphone.

We have those food programs here in Holland too but I don’t watch them even though I love food, cooking and eating.

  9. I do the same thing when John is watching his shows. I usually get on the computer then…lol! Veronica got me hooked on Pinterest and yes, you will get addicted…lots of food over there too 🙂 Those sliders look delish and a cold beer in this heat we’ve been having is totally legit!

  10. If i had internet for my tablet I’d play word with friends…but alas, I don’t. Boo! And I’m proud of you getting in that workout! More than I can say for myself!

  11. Haha, my husband & I totally have different tastes in movies, lucky for me on our anniversary a few weeks ago he sat through ‘The Vow’ with me and didn’t die.

I hate anything too ‘guy’ meaning fighting/action, but I agree with you that sometimes we just need to suck it up and sit through it.

  12. I sent you a Words With Friends request. I love games!!

  13. I love pinterest! I’m on it constantly.

    I want those sliders!

  14. I haven’t done WWF yet but I heard it’s fun!

Your pulled pork looks amazing! I have not had rolling rock in years–but drank a lot in grad school since it was a local beer. Good combo with the pork 🙂

  15. Why do the smiley faces insert in strange places? I put it at the end of the last sentence. Just wondering….

  16. You’re a better woman than me. Dennis will watch anything with me but he goes alone to see sci-fi and fantasy movies without me. He seems to like being able to go by himself or with a friend without me so I think I’m off the hook. *phew* I think you’ll love Pinterest, it’s not my go-to place for recipes. I have so many saved that I want to try! Look me up and follow me so I can find you and follow you too! http://pinterest.com/vraklis/

And WOW I can’t believe you ran that far! That is amazing! You put me to shame! I’ve been more active, biking and swimming but now I see I have a ways to go to catch up with you. 🙂

  17. The only person I will play scrabble with via computer/app is Pooldad. Everyone else cheats and uses the ‘net to make their next word. It’s pretty obvious too – someone you know really well all of a sudden places the word “myocytes”. You know better and even if you both agree not to use outside sources, they still cheat and that takes the fun out of it.

NICE job on the running! It’s been too hot here, so I have been going out at the crack of dawn and it’s still pretty warm, but it’s fine once I get to the nice air conditioned gym. I do still have to walk there tho’. 🙂

  18. Tony’s the best for putting up with your cooking shows! My dad and brothers just can’t handle it 😉 i have to find a husband like him.. in the future!
and good job with the bike! your running/biking amazes me, Biz. I just can’t do it, and I’m only 19. I am trying to get more exercise in though, so I picked swimming back up. I was so nervous at first (I haven’t done laps since 8th grade!) but it felt so good to be back in the water. I figured there was no use in trying to do things I hated (running, lol), so for now i’ll just embrace the swimming.

after looking at your sandwich from wool street, i’m off to search your site for pulled pork sandwiches. I’m going home for the weekend, and I know that’d be something everyone could agree on!

  19. I’ll play words with friends, love it 🙂

  20. Look at you rocking the gym workouts 🙂 I’ve set an unofficial goal of riding my bike at least 10 miles a day for the next two weeks!

  21. Ha, now you’ll have tons of words with friends buddies! I love it and have several games going. In fact I just got done playing. I never read my morning emails, just too much going on otherwise I would have seen this post earlier. Thanks for the reminder on Masterchef. I watch shows on Hulu early in the morning as I have a daycare kid here at 5:30 and my next one doesn’t come until 7:30. I’ve been watching Hells Kitchen and just started So You Think You Can Dance.

I never watch the same shows as my husband. He likes scifi stuff, I can watch some but they don’t overly interest me.

  22. I walk out of the room when Andy watches “his” shows too. I need to quit doing that, but I am not into MMA at all!

I love the Draw Something app. It’s way too addicting though, watch out! And instagram for photos.

  23. You are such a great wife to watch “Tony tv”!! I never watch my husband’s tv!!
And I’m glad you could use the inspiration. It’s pretty badass, right???

  24. I’ll play words with friends! It is my FAVORITE time suck at work. 🙂 I’m Lauramayc 🙂

  25. Thank you for taking turns that good sjuebct matter on the site. I ran across it on the internet. I am going to check an extra chance after you post extra aricles.
