Turns out my hair is too thin to look like Jody Foster.

I have to give a shout out to Jacky, because I forgot to mention her brunch gift that she gave me and my sister.  Holla!!  Sriracha Salt!

Um, why haven’t I ever thought of spicy salt?!  Thanks Jacky!  This will definitely be put to good use!

I slept in yesterday morning.  Then did my blog post and started laundry.  Before I knew it, it was 11:30 and I hadn’t had anything to eat yet!  Since this was both breakfast and lunch, I made a bagel sammie, using some of the leftover bacon from Tony’s giant BLT over the weekend.

My hair appointment was at 1:30.  I brought them this picture that I pinned on Pinterest.

I told her that I thought I needed short layers to make my hair look fuller.  The best part about the whole hair cut was the shampoo.  This place has massage chairs now, and they start out by putting a hot towel on your head and it’s so relaxing.

Once she brushed out my hair, she said “I think in the back you have enough to donate to locks of love!”  What??!

We had just enough – 7 inches.  It’s so thin I asked her what they could possibly do with it, and she said it would be perfect to make bangs.  Who knew?

So it turns out my hair is too thin to have short layers like Jody Foster’s picture.  She said it would make my hair look thinner.  So we ended up with a chunky bob I guess.  I bit shorter in the back, but it does make my hair seem a lot fuller.

So no more pony tail!  I actually think this is a cut I can maintain. Open-mouthed smile  When I got back, Tony and I went to Bed Bath & Beyond.  I had a gift certificate from my PIL, plus a Visa card from one of my bosses.

Since Hannah moved out, it’s rare that Tony and I can drink a whole pot of coffee.  I usually drink the leftovers as iced coffee in the morning before brewing another pot.  But some days Tony doesn’t drink any coffee at all, so we were wasting a lot of coffee.

Problem solved!  (Skippy, I know you are jealous of my coffee cup!)

And the best part?  I can have stinky coffee!  Tony doesn’t like any type of flavored coffee, but I love it.  I had enough on the gift cards to buy this:

And we bought the tiny filter, so we can use our own coffee as well.

Did you see the cover of the latest Cooking Light magazine?

I was reading this magazine on the way to the store over the weekend, and this looked amazeballs.  I ended up using two big bone in chicken breasts that I cut in half.  Only one slight problem – this recipe said that it took 39 minutes to make.  No way.  It said to brown the chicken on the skin side for 6 minutes, then bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes, or until it reaches 165 degrees.

At 12 minutes, my chicken was only at 115 degrees – it took closer to 20-23 minutes for the chicken to be cooked through.  And I also had to microwave my potatoes before browning them – and even then some were a bit undercooked.  Next time I’ll bake the red potatoes whole beforehand, then slice and brown as directed.

A great reason to have a food scale?  These three potatoes can to 1 pound!

I also added 1 teaspoon of sugar, because the sauce before I added the sugar was a bit too tart.

Oops, I forgot the parsley!

This was delicious.  The sauce was perfect, the chicken was nice and moist, so next time I’ll be sure to cook the potatoes ahead of time.

I have left myself some time this morning to fix my hair – it may add five minutes to my morning routine – ha!

My gym bag is packed – it’s been too long since I worked out!  What are you planning to do for exercise today?  Make it a great day!

  1. Love your new hair style, you look gorgeous! 🙂

  2. I love your new do! It looks fantastic Biz, better than Jodie Foster’s hair. You look even more youthful. I had no idea your hair was so long, but 7″ is enough to donate. My salon told me 8 and I can’t seem to get there. Last time I went I was at about 6 inches. I’ll have to ask again next time I go because I must be close to 7 inches.

    Have a great workout!!

  3. I think the new hairdo looks awesome on you, Biz! Definitely makes it look much fuller. I definitely have more than enough to donate, just not sure I want to go that short yet.
The Keurig is also a must in our house–I’m not a big coffee drinker, but I use it for the hot water for my tea all the time.

  4. Biz your hair looks great this way. I love it!

Funny fact is that “Keurig” is the Dutch word for “decent”

We have a coffee maker for a pot but only use it when we have more than 4 people over. We have an espresso machine and it turned out to be one of the best purchases we ever did.

  5. The hair wash is always the best part! I think its better than a massage! Your hair looks great (Jodie foster like or not ;)). Josh doesn’t really drink coffee either. It drives me to starbucks all too often

  6. OMG, your hair is so stinkin’ cute!!! Love it. I’ll be posting the Sriracha salt recipe tomorrow, hope you enjoy it. 🙂

  7. Love your hair!!!! You look fantastic.

  8. LOVE the new haircut! It looks very chic and makes you look younger!

As for exercise, I am alternating running and lifting days – yesterday I ran 4.25 miles and today I will be lifting weights.

    • That’s a good plan Kris – hey, let me know when you get the Bubba Keg – I actually gave some of your salsa I made for you away, so I am making another batch tomorrow to get on your way – thanks for being patient!

  9. I like the haircut! My hair is thin too. My husband doesn’t drink coffee. I didn’t start until I was 40. Yes, I made it into and out of the Navy without a coffee habit. Did have a diet coke habit though. I mostly just drink coffee at work, 2 cups a day.

At home on the weekends, I’ll make a 4-cup pot and drink that. It comes out to two of my coffee mugs worth, probably 24 ounces total. Sometimes I make extra for iced coffee but cut it with decaf. I recently tried some vanilla coffee…artificially flavored so I didn’t like the aftertaste. Mostly I put chocolate syrup in it for my flavoring. 🙂

I was going to head to the gym for the first time since January. Not feeling it today. I hope to go for a walk. It’s spring break! For my 1st grader. So we are off this week. We are leaving today for LA and going to Knott’s Berry Farm amusement park for a couple of days (one day at the park, couple of partial days by the pool). The hotel looks nice with a pool, breakfast, gym. The rest of the week we’ll be chilling at home. This is my first week-long vacation since last March (and I had to work yesterday so it’s not a week long AND maternity leave does not count!)

Anyhoo, my HS just scheduled our 25th reunion and I’m thinking it’s time to get working on these last 25 baby lbs. I gained 50 the second time around. Even if I could lose 15 lbs I’d feel a heck of a lot better.

  10. Love your haircut! I got my hair cut like that last month, and it’s so much easier!

  11. I love your cut – it looks really cute! That’s awesome that you could donate to locks of love – I thought you had to have a lot more hair to do that!

  12. I have baby fine hair and almost always go for a regular old bob. Yours looks great! I drink my coffee twice as strong as my husband likes it plus he drinks decaf so we have two pots. It does take up some room but works. 🙂

  13. Hooray for donating hair! It feels great to have it all gone, doesn’t it??

  14. New hairstyle is GORGEOUS! And congrats on the Keurig; MAK got me one for Christmas and we ended up having to exchange it (the Keurig Mini is a POS!) for a bigger model. My favorite k-cup is Kahlua! I’m drinking it right now!

  15. Weighting For 50

Oh Vat. LOVE your new bob! You are SASSY!! And love that you were able to donate the cuttings! Have a great day!

  16. Your food all looks amazing! Your hair-cut looks amazing! How does it feel having that much taken off? it looks so shiny and healthy I bet it feels great for spring (if it ever arrives!). I love my keurig and I too have one of those re-usable cups, it is great for when I run out of k-cups or want to be thrifty! 🙂

  17. Love the new cut, super cute! 🙂 And that chicken looks amazing!

  18. Your new hair-do looks great and that’s great that you donated some of your hair.
New coffee machine looks like the one I have been looking at to replace my Melitta personal. I am just a two cup drinker a day person, so that would be perfect, husband does not drink coffee.

I am sure you will put your “hot salt” to good use…lol! Left-over bacon sammie and the quick chicken skillet dinner looks delicious!!!

  19. Hi Biz! I like your new haircut–very spring-like. 😀

I have very thin hair too. You have to put the freeziest (you know, the one that calls itself “freeze”) hairspray on your fingertips and then tease the roots of your hair. When you get the volume, then gently smooth/style the outer layer without removing the tease underneath. Style and then “freeze” it with a few overall coats of hairspray. You will get an amazing amount of volume and shape out of your hair like that, and it will just look like you have thicker hair to start with.

    🙂 Marion

  20. Your hair looks awesome! I haven’t had a real hair cut since 1994, I didn’t know about these massage chairs obviously 🙂

The chicken looks awesome, I love lemon on most anything.

  21. LOVE the haircut! Looks great! 🙂

  22. findingradiance

Very, very cute hairstyle Biz! It will be easy to maintain 😀

  23. I love your hair and it does look really full. That style is always so fun 🙂 I haven’t had a real haircut in years. I just hack it off with a steak knife…ha ha ha!! Just teasing 😉 The chicken dish looks divine!

  24. myjourneytofit

I honestly had no idea your hair was that long!!! Love the new ‘do – you look so sassy!

I am jealous of your Keurig – I was just telling Jeff on Sunday that I wished we had some play money to buy one…drink a cup for me, ok? 🙂

  25. Happy Belated Birthday! I love the hair (and I’m stealing the one of Jodi Foster because I have thick hair, so if I can stand to grow it out a bit…); it really flatters your face. The birthday dinner looks delicious; I will have to try the cocktail sauce recipe, but the addition of tarragon throws me for a loop.

    You rock!

  26. Your hair looks great. I have a Keurig and I love it. The reusable filters make it more economical to use and I can dump out the used grounds into my compost bucket. I must find that Sriracha Salt..since I love sriracha.

    • My friend Jacky is posting the recipe tomorrow – I’ll link to it for you! Thanks why I like you Jamie – you loves the spicy shit like me!

  27. We have the same hair cut 🙂 I got it done in January and I love it! It’s a bit longer now so I can put it up at the gym, but then it takes me all of 5 minutes after my shower to dry and style it. World’s perfect hair cut.

  28. susancsvintageboutique

I love your new hair cut it looks so cute on you! I just know your gonna love it too! I also love your new coffee maker. We drink a lot of coffee around here we have a four cup pot here which we love it makes just enough to make a full “cup” of coffee in a huge cup. I may have to replace my coffee maker soon though its not as hot as it once was but I know the coffee maker is close to 10 years old now so its time to replace it you gave me ideas of what to replace it with.
Since going into menopause and having hot flashes at night (the worst) I have cut my hair short and it keeps getting shorter too seriously I wear mine much like your new do. Congrats and Happy Belated Birthday too.

  29. andreaswellnessnotes

    I like your new haircut!

  30. I love the new hair cut! It does look thicker and so cute.

  31. Very cute cut! I love it!

  32. You don’t need your hair to look like anyone else’s you look perfectly fine the way that you have done it 🙂
